Beyond the Beats: Examining Hip Hop

I love hip hop because of the beat and its view into inner cities and a community that is marginalized in our society (as Jay-Z said, it is the CNN of the inner city). 

However, some hip hop degrades women and gays.  Here is the look at the documentary my Honors African-American Seminar class watched from PBS:
